General Overview
Under general supervision; conducts electrical inspections of industrial, residential and commercial buildings to ensure compliance with state and local building codes; prepares reports on inspections. Performs other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications
Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below. Completion of a high school equivalent education. Must possess a valid Electrical Inspector’s Certificate of competency issued by the Oho Board of Building Standards. Must possess a valid State of Ohio vehicle operator’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of state and local building codes; electrical inspection procedures; electrical installation and repair procedures. *Basic knowledge of safety practices and procedures; *department practices and procedures; office practices and procedures; permit issuance procedures. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams; carry out instructions in written, oral or picture form; work alone on most projects; demonstrate physical fitness; prepare meaningful, accurate and concise. records; maintain accurate records; communicate effectively in written, oral or verbal form.

Job Duties
The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification. Schedules and conducts inspections of industrial, residential and commercial facilities to ensure compliance with local and state of building codes; review plans and ensures construction meets specifications required by plans; reinspects equipment and facilities as required; gives final approval to projects. Compiles detailed notes on each specific inspection conducted (e.g. date, time started/ended, progress of work, violations, approvals permit applications; issues building permits; prepares reports on work activities and reports, inspections; prepares special reports regarding complaints from citizens and governmental agencies. Provides advice to architects, engineers, contractors, craftsmen, property owners, maintenance personnel and citizens regarding state and local electrical building codes; recommends alternative methods of compliance to codes; provides court testimony in cases related to building code violations.

•May be exposed to the hazards associated with building construction, remodeling, and installation and inspection of same, abandoned or foreclosed homes, electric cables, wires, and patch panels, dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, mold, smoke, animal and human waste, unsanitary conditions, high and low temperatures, water, and adverse weather conditions.
•Work may be performed in confined spaces and in areas of high security and from ladders and mechanical lifts.
•May be required to work at heights in excess of 10 feet.

•Typically requires lifting, sitting, walking, standing, bending, pushing, pulling, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, talking, hearing, seeing.
•Requires various types of physical exertion, such as prolonged bending, stooping, crouching or crawling and lifting, walking on uneven terrain and driving vehicles for long periods of time.
•Employee is required to reach with hands and arms, climb, and balance, move, and transport inspection/test equipment and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds repeatedly from one location to another.
•Job requires employee to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and perform and repetitive motions; utilize diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, and other equipment to accomplish job duties.
•Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision. Must be able to focus clearly at 20 inches or less
Must possess Electrical Inspector Certificate of Competency issued by Ohio Board of Building Standards

Must possess Valid Driver’s License to operate County Vehicle

Work Schedule:
4 days/week. To be determined based on operational need.
