The City of Richmond Heights is currently accepting applications for a dependable and well-qualified building inspector to join our inspection team. The qualified applicant shall have recent experience in a certified building department and shall possess, at a minimum, certifications issued by the Ohio Board of Building Standards as a Building Inspector (BI) Residential Building Official (RBO), and either a Plumbing Inspector (PI) or an Electrical Safety Inspector (ESI).
Additional certifications of Fire Inspector and/or Building Official are desirable but not required. The successful candidate must have good oral and written communication skills and shall be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Franklin Information Systems building department software. Duties of this position include but are not limited to residential and commercial building inspections, yearly maintenance inspections of both residential and commercial properties and the maintenance of records in the department.
Our inspectors are expected to provide courteous, professional and timely building inspection services to our residents, businesses and contractors and to assist the public in understanding the approval, permitting and inspection process. Salary range is $31,500 to $45,500 for a full-time, 35-hour work week.
