Portage County Electrical Safety Inspector

Job Responsibilities:

Incumbent is responsible for the inspection of building projects encompassing new construction, alteration or repair work, and ensure that National Electric Code requirements are met for all residential and commercial construction within Portage County through careful and thorough examination of all phases of construction and code related items.

Minimum Qualifications:

A High School diploma or G.E.D. Must possess a current certificate of competency in the form of an Electrical Safety Inspector Certificate issued by the Ohio Board of Building Standards, and five (5) years experience as a skilled electrical tradesman or equivalent Ohio Board of Building Standards experience with a certified building department is required. A valid Building Inspector certification issued by the Ohio Board of Building Standards is preferred but not required. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain continuing eligibility under the existing County driver eligibility standards.
