The City of Painesville is seeking a highly qualified Building Official. The position is supervisory and skilled field inspection with office work in securing compliance with building codes.
Work involves responsibility for coordinating inspections for all areas of construction and for inspecting residential and other buildings for compliance with the City’s construction, plumbing, electrical, heating, and zoning codes. Thorough knowledge of the methods, material, and techniques involved in general building construction and other areas of specialization such as plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and plans.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to supervise and work well with others. Necessary special requirements: Certified by the Ohio Board of Building Standards in the following – Building Official (non-residential); Residential Building Official; Building Inspector (non-residential); Electrical Safety Inspector.
