Euclid Building Inspector

The City of Euclid has an immediate opening for a full-time Building Inspector. Qualified applicants will possess valid State of Ohio Building Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, and driver’s license. Additional State certifications in Residential Building Inspector and Residential Plumbing Inspector a plus. Job duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform full range of inspections of plumbing and drainage installations for compliance with plumbing codes, statutes and ordinances; investigate complaints and plumbing installations under construction without proper permit; observe and evaluate required tests (e.g., air tests, water tests); complete inspection reports; confer with contractors and others concerning plumbing installations; identify violations and issue corrective orders; and answer questions concerning plumbing codes.
  • Perform field inspections of new construction sites and alterations, additions and changes of occupancy to existing structures to ensure compliance, safety and licensing with building codes, statutes and ordinances; inspect materials delivered to job sites and perform inspections as result of public complaints upon requests from other agencies and as result of natural or man-made disasters; prepare required inspection reports and make recommendations for issuance of adjudication orders to stop construction or correct violations; and offer advice/assistance to alleviate problems.
  • Respond to and resolve complaints regarding zoning, commercial or industrial businesses.

The City of Euclid provides a comprehensive benefits package as well as a starting wage of $23.77 per hour.
