The City of Cleveland Heights is accepting applications for the position of an Electrical and Residential Building Inspector. This position is responsible for electrical inspection and residential building inspection. Will also act as a liaison in enforcing codes and ordinances; and support any/all other City Departments and Administration as necessary.
JOB TITLE: Electrical and Residential Building Inspector

REPORTS TO: Chief Building Official
JOB SUMMARY:
Primary responsibilities include the reviewing of electrical plans and aspects of the construction plans. Will inspect all electrical installations in and on public and private properties to ensure compliance with approved plans, as well as with applicable codes and ordinances. Other duties may include reviewing the aspects of construction plans, inspecting in and on public and private properties and buildings to ensure conformance with approved plans, as well as applicable codes and ordinances. Will also perform utility inspections.
Enforce regulations with tact and good judgment. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, the general public and other employees. Provide prompt, courteous professional service and communication. Provide correct information regarding applicable building and electrical codes and referenced standards, required permits, and inspections. Assist the public in understanding the approval, permitting and inspection process. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification Requirements: State of Ohio Electrical Inspector Certification and Residential Building Official Certification.
- Desirable Certifications: Building Class I and Class III and/or Plumbing Inspector
- Must possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
Status: Permanent, Full-Time Annual Salary: $31,200 – $55,200
