The City of Brook Park is seeking a full-time Certified Building Inspector for immediate hire. This is a union position with opportunity for growth within a community that is rapidly expanding its economic development.
The Building Inspector is responsible for the following:
- Enforcing Ohio Building Code
- Enforcing Residential Code of Ohio
- Enforcing all related codes per employee’s respective certifications.
- Maintains records of building and inspection activity, and completes related reports.
- Issues certificates and permits as appropriate.
- Assists in researching problems and complaints regarding commercial, residential, building construction, and code compliance.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from a high school or GED equivalent
- Driver’s License and ability to operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to use a personal computer and software
- Ability to use a phone and radio
- State certification as a commercial and residential building inspector and/or any Combination of certifications below.
- Commercial Plumbing Inspector preferred.
- Interim acceptable provided full certification is secured within two years
- Residential Building Official or Electrical Safety Inspector encouraged.
- Interim is acceptable provided full certification is secured within two years
- Commercial Plumbing Inspector preferred.
