The City of Independence is currently seeking qualified applicants for Building Inspector. The Building Inspector is a liaison in enforcing codes and ordinances for both commercial and residential property maintenance as well as inspection of construction. The position also supports other City departments as necessary.
The ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of experience in commercial/residential building inspection, and must possess at least one valid certification through the Ohio Board of Building Standards: Building Inspector, Electrical Safety Inspector, and/or Residential Building Inspector. Additional certifications, and/or the ability to obtain them, are a plus. Applicants must maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, and must successfully complete drug screening and criminal background check prior to hire.
