Plumbing/Building Inspector
Part time
GENERAL DUTIES: Performs a variety of routine and complex technical work in building inspection to insure that the Ohio Building Code and other related codes and standards are met. Inspects and is responsible for testing interior and exterior waste and venting systems for residential and commercial buildings, inspects underground piping for proper elevation and size, commercial buildings for proper grease retention and sewer interceptors and all waterlines for proper size, supports and backflow devices as required by code. Assists Building Commissioner by examining plumbing plans in enforcement of the Ohio Plumbing Code.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a standard senior high school or GED equivalent, and certification by the state of Ohio as a Plumbing Inspector, certified by the Department of Commerce as a Certified Backflow tester, Certified by the Department of Commerce as servicing, testing, repairing and installing fire service systems, seven years experience in the installation of plumbing systems under the State of Ohio Code.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: Certification by the State of Ohio for residential/commercial plumbing and Class III Building/Mechanical. Additional certifications a plus.
