Position summary: Applicant must possess current OBBS certifications or interim certifications as Commercial and Residential Building Inspector and Electrical Inspector. Additional certifications are recommended. Applicant must also have a minimum three (3) years of experience working in a certified building department.
Additional Departmental Requirements and Qualifications:
-Valid Driver’s License
-Ability to be covered under City’s vehicle liability insurance
– Ability to read and interpret commercial and residential architectural and engineering construction documents.
-Demonstrate knowledge of the Ohio Building Code, National Electric Code, and other related codes
-Ability to detect life safety hazards, and interpret property maintenance issues
-Possess excellent Interpersonal Skills and Conflict Resolution Skills
-Ability to enforce regulations with firm, tact, and impartiality
-Possess General Computer Skills and familiarity with Building Department Software
Duties:
-Performs day-to-day building and electrical field inspections
-Addresses routine property maintenance issues
-Investigate and respond to code related issues from contractors, developers, owners, architects and engineers
-Maintains inspection reports
-Responds to zoning related questions
-Performs a variety of duties as may be required by the Building Commissioner
Hours: Full Time, Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
