Bedford Building & Electrical Inspector

The City of Bedford Building Department is seeking a full-time building and electrical inspector.  Qualified applicants shall have working experience and knowledge in the inspection of both nonresidential and residential buildings, in the enforcement of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and in the State of Ohio building codes.  Familiarity with Property Maintenance Codes, Rental inspection and Point-of-Sale inspection procedures will also be required.

Applicants must possess, as a minimum, the following State of Ohio certifications: Class III Building Inspector (BI); Electrical Safety Inspector (ESI); and Residential Building Official (RBO).  Other certifications will be considered a plus.

Applicants must be able to perform field inspections and shall possess good people skills.  The successful candidate must have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the public, local business owners and local contractors.

Applicants shall possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and be capable of composing and preparing letters and notices to clients and citizens as deemed necessary.

A valid Ohio driver’s license is required.  Drug and alcohol testing and a background check will also be required.

The starting pay will be 48K to 52K plus an attractive benefits package which includes insurance and vacation.  Bedford is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
