Assistant Building Commissioner/Inspector

The City of Richmond Heights is currently accepting applications for a dependable and well-qualified individual to join our inspection team. The qualified applicant shall have recent experience in a certified building department and shall possess, at a minimum, certifications issued by the Ohio Board of Building Standards as both a Residential and Non-residential Building Official (RBO & BO), Building Inspector (BI) and either a Plumbing Inspector (PI) or an Electrical Safety Inspector (ESI). Additional certification of Fire Inspector is desirable but not required.
The successful candidate must have good oral and written communication skills and shall be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Franklin Information Systems building department software. Duties of this position include but are not limited to residential and commercial building inspections, yearly maintenance inspections of both residential and commercial properties and the maintenance of records in the department.
Our inspectors are expected to provide courteous, professional and timely building inspection services to our residents, businesses and contractors and to assist the public in understanding the approval, permitting and inspection process. Salary range is $45,000 to $60,500 for a full-time, 40-hour work week.
