MAYFIELD VILLAGE BUILDING COMMISSIONER

Mayfield Village, Ohio is seeking a full-time Building Commissioner to be the head of its Building Department. The Building Commissioner is responsible for issuing building permits and for enforcing the applicable building and zoning codes in Mayfield Village.

Under the general direction of the Mayor, the Building Commissioner is expected to be an active and collaborative member of the Village’s Administration. The Building Commissioner is required to attend and participate in meetings of Council, the Planning & Zoning Commission, the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Architectural Review Board. The Building Commissioner determines and implements departmental policies and processes, conducts long-term planning in conjunction with the Administration, and should possess budgetary skills. The selected candidate will be replacing the current Building Commissioner who is retiring after 17 years with Mayfield Village.

Mayfield Village provides a comprehensive benefits package to all full-time employees and the annual salary range for the Building Commissioner’s position is $86,856 to $123,745, commensurate with experience. The preferred candidate will possess a current Certificate of Competency from the Ohio Board of Building Standards as a Building Official, a Residential Building Official, a Certified Electrical Safety Inspector, and a Certified Plumbing Inspector. Alternatively, the candidate must be qualified to obtain interim certification in one or more fields through the Ohio Board of Building Standards and must obtain permanent certification within 24 months of hire.
