Euclid Chief Building Official

The City of Euclid is currently accepting applications for Chief Building Official, reporting directly to the Mayor. Qualified applicants must possess Ohio Board of Building Standards Certification as Building Official; as well as Building Inspector, Electrical Safety Inspector or Plumbing Inspector.  Required residential certificates include Residential Building Official and Residential Plans Examiner.  Possession of additional State of Ohio certifications, including Master Plans Examiner, or the ability to obtain multiple certificates, is preferred.

The successful candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and supervisory experience is preferred. Duties include, but are not limited to: supervising inspections and ensuring enforcement of all applicable local ordinances and state codes relating to residential and commercial building units in the City; attending Council, Planning & Zoning, Architectural Review Board meetings as needed; overseeing cases prepared for prosecution, court or condemnation; communicating with City personnel, officials, residents, agencies and businesses on a daily basis.

Competitive salary and benefits package are available. Starting salary $65K – $95K and will be determined commensurate with experience and qualifications.
