Job Title: Housing Inspector
Location: University Heights, Ohio
Salary Range: $40,000-$60,000, commensurate with experience

Under direction, conducts inspections of residential properties and responds to complaints for structures/premises, as required or instructed, to ensure conformance with applicable codes and regulations, and all related work as required.
Key Responsibilities
Conducts field inspections and re-inspections of residential and rental properties to ensure conformance with applicable codes and regulations etc.; identifies code violations; investigates complaints and accurately enters / documents inspection information/activity into all applicable electronic systems (e.g., Citizen Serve).
- Recommends corrective measures for compliance with code; prepares any other inspection-related documentation or records as needed; maintains records and correspondence, etc.; Prepares and issues warnings and violation notices as needed; Follows up with contractors, property owners, tenants, etc.
- Provides information to the general public, on housing codes and interpretation of such codes, and other housing code related issues.
Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license; must be able to qualify for and remain insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.
- Must have a State of Ohio Residential Building Inspector Certification or have the ability to acquire it within one (1) year of employment.
Desirable Skills & Attributes
- Strong knowledge of reporting in a business environment and regulatory compliance.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with activity tracking and reporting in municipal settings and those systems that support such activities.
