The City of Mayfield Heights is accepting resumes for the position of Building Director.

General Responsibilities

The position, under the administrative direction of the Mayor, administers, directs, and manages the operation of the Building Department; directs personnel functions, and provides effective, professional leadership; sets department policy in order to meet the community’s needs; ensures compliance with and enforcement of all applicable state and local building codes. Qualifications

Completion of secondary education or equivalent (high school diploma or GED); five (5) years or more of related experience as a Building Inspector, Architect, or Engineer; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licensure or Certification Requirements

Certification by the state of Ohio as a Building Official; other state certifications a plus (e.g. Building Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Electrical Safety Inspector, Residential Plans Examiner, Residential Building Official, Residential Building Inspector, etc.). Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain insurability under the City’s vehicle insurance policy.
