Job Title: Property Maintenance Inspector (Full Time)

Job Summary:
The City of Fairview Park is seeking qualified candidates for a Property Maintenance Inspector position. The position enforces city property maintenance and housing codes and inspects commercial and residential properties in compliance with City of Fairview Park ordinances and codes. Communicate effectively and work independently are key aspects to the position. The candidate must be comfortable working with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft office products, and computerized tracking systems. Excellent benefits and salary per ordinance starting at $40,180 or commensurate with experience and licenses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enforce property maintenance codes
- Daily inspections of exterior properties
- Prepares notices of code violations for property owners not in compliance
- Ensure code compliance through the use of warnings and court citations
- Responds to complaints and concerns from residents and others
- Enter data to record inspections, notes, compliance decisions on a computerized tracking system
- Prepares reports and maintains records of inspections, recordkeeping is essential to the process
- Position requires outdoor work
- Assists department staff in performing various duties within the Building Department
- Performs various duties as needed or assigned
- Advise administration, City Council, and Rocky River court on status of properties
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A valid State of Ohio drivers license is required
- Strong computer and communication skills
- Knowledge of methods, materials and techniques involved in general building construction
- ICC Property Maintenance Inspector Certification or BBS Certificate within 1 year of hire and able to maintain certification during employment
- Any BBS License is a plus
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must be able to regularly walk through various areas at buildings, sites and the outdoors while performing assigned functions
- While performing the duties of this job, it is regularly required to stand, sit; use hands to handle or feel; talk and hear.
- The Property Maintenance Inspector will work in a variety of environments including office setting and outside which might involve adverse weather conditions.
