SUMMARY:
This position will be the public-facing aspect of the Division. The incumbent will be responsible to provide information to residents, contractors, property owners, business owners, and others who come to the Building counter, including applications, meeting dates, and other information related to permitting. The incumbent will also be responsible in transmitting any information received at the front counter to other Department and City staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide customer service to walk-in customers; receives payments; makes change; directs customers and/or callers to appropriate internal individuals; answers routine questions and provides customers with requested forms, information, and/or paperwork
- Screen visitors and correspondence; makes preliminary assessment of importance and handle accordingly
- Build effective working relationships with customers, City staff, and elected officials
- Maintain a variety of files and information related to Division operations
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge of:
- Office procedures and equipment

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and six (6) months of customer service experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

HOURS OF WORK
The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours per week). The position requires reporting to City Hall.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
